April 2018 has been a month filled with exciting changes to my portfolio of conducting activity as I look ahead to the 2018-2019 season. Here are the two most significant updates:

Hunt's Church

I was recently appointed Music Director at Hunt's Memorial United Methodist Church (Hunt's Church for short) beginning April 2. Hunt's Church is an historic congregation located in Towson Maryland, one whose first meetings predate both the founding of the United Methodist denomination, and the US Revolutionary War. I am delighted to join the the staff of this special group of people as we look ahead to a range of new initiatives to expand our musical footprint and community impact.

Hopkins Symphony Orchestra

I am pleased to announce that I will serve as Assistant Conductor of the Hopkins Symphony Orchestra and Conductor of the Hopkins Concert Orchestra beginning with HSO's 2018-2019 season. I'll be working under Maestro Jed Gaylin assisting Hopkins Symphony Orchestra concerts and conducting concerts of the Hopkins Concert Orchestra. I look forward to sharing repertoire in the coming weeks.

The Hopkins Symphony Orchestra provides excellent orchestra concerts and performance opportunities for the Johns Hopkins University and surrounding communities. Hopkins Symphony Orchestra is open to JHU students not majoring in music, as well as to JHU faculty, staff, alumni, and community musicians. HSO consists of two ensembles: the Symphonic Orchestra led by Jed Gaylin, music director, and the Concert Orchestra which will be led by myself. Both orchestras offer a rigorous, artistically challenging orchestral experience, presenting an annual series of innovatively programmed, high quality, low-cost or free orchestral concerts and a free children’s concert.

HSO was established in its present form in 1981 by Peabody Conservatory graduate student Catherine Overhauser, who served as Music Director, Conductor, and General Manager until 1987. She was succeeded by Harvey Felder, Eric Townell, and the late Robert Black. Jed Gaylin has been Music Director since 1994, having previously been Assistant Conductor and Resident Conductor. I'm thrilled to join this terrific organization.
