Jordan will speak to the Composition Seminar at Morgan State University.
The modern symphony orchestra is as supple and sophisticated as ever, but simultaneously it is a treacherously difficult ensemble for which to compose. Jordan will talk about composition from the perspective of the performer and guide students in the “do’s and don’t’s” of orchestration. Young composers will learn how to carefully shape their compositions to set up performers for a great first read.

This special event will provide young composers with the important educational opportunity to hear their works played by live musicians, and will offer HSO musicians the opportunity to play and hear brand-new music while providing young composers with this special resource.
